Like Other People''s Children focuses on issues of missiology and inculturation amongst the African- Caribbean/West Indian population of Lutheran Christians in the Danish West Indies. When Frederick V of Denmark enacted landmark legislation in 1755 a critical turning point occurred as he declared: "Slave children are to have the Word of God preached to them, be instructed in the Christian faith and be baptized like other people''s children." What resulted from this legislation? How did the Lutheranchurches in the Danish West Indies become the largest indigenous African-Caribbean communities of Lutherans in the New World?
