Copyright and Fair Use: Survey of Caselaw and the Doctrine of Fair Use

The right of someone to benefit from the fruits of their own labor is a bedrock principle in the founding of the nation. This includes intellectual labor as well. The Founders went as far as to add this protection into the United States Constitution. This book examines case law around an exception to this protection called "Fair Use"; when one can use the intellectual work of another to create something new. Important cases from across the country are reviewed to highlight how different Federal Circuits have developed this doctrine of Fair Use.
