Cardiac problem is one of the major health problems of the world, including India. Cardiac surgery has become a very common phenomenon of the present era. Functioning of the heart and it’s problems has been identified as both physiological as well as psychological phenomenon after extensive research in this during the late 1950s. In the 1960s, interest grew about heart surgery and related psychological factors, which mostly predict surgical outcome. However, in the Indian context, there are very few studies which assess emotional states and personality patterns of the cardiac patients before and after their cardiac surgeries. This book is the result of an empirical research work. The main aim of this study is to help investigators to understand the scenario about the importance of psychological factors related to cardiac disease as well as cardiac surgery. Besides this, the research details, steps and methodology followed are clearly presented in this book which may be valuable to those conducting research in this field.
