India’s poor tribal people have far worse health indicators than the general population. Most tribal people live in remote rural hamlets in hilly, forested or desert areas where illiteracy, trying physical environments, malnutrition, inadequate access to potable water, and lack of personal hygiene and sanitation make them more vulnerable to disease. Health is a function, not only of medical care but of the overall integrated development of society-cultural, economic, education, social and political. Hence, it is not possible to raise the health status and quality of life of people unless such efforts are integrated with the wider effort to bring about the overall transformation of a society. In this regard an attempt has been made to study the factors influencing the health status of scheduled tribes. The factors like female literacy, food expenses, frequent health visit and distance to the health center are significantly influencing the incidence of the sickness in the study area. So it is necessary to improve the all above factors for the development of tribes.
