An Analytical Examination of Cleopatra’s Personal Relationships

Cleopatra VII of Egypt is celebrated as one of the most popular queens and women from antiquity. Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and Augustus Caesar were contemporary Roman politicians of Cleopatra who represented the first century BCE. Main focus of the particular research is based on the nature of Cleopatra’s relationship with these politicians in the light of politics and romance. Many authors from antiquity and modern world try to romanticize their relationship, specifically the relationships which Cleopatra had with Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony. In contrary, supported by evidence, the research focuses on the political factor which caused to begin, to retain, and to end their relationships. The research examines the romantic depiction of their relationships in the primary sources and analyses the political aspect of their interactions, in hope that it also will heighten their political characters. This book provides the reader a reliable understanding on how the ancient authors depicted the personal relationships of Cleopatra with Julius Caesar, Mark Anthony and the nature of her relationship with Augustus Caesar.
