It is widely recognized that housing finance and affordability theories have an essential role in guiding the overall research and utilization of the theories. There are many possible sources of theories which are important for the study of housing finance and affordability. Some have been developed within the field of housing, whereas others have been adapted from other related disciplines. Considering the existing housing finance and affordability theories and examining how they have been used in the study of housing is helpful in order to assess the housing finance effectively.
