In Russell’s opinion, human beings have a natural thirst for power and are ready to undertake any possible actions to gain more power. This issue is well illustrated in George Orwell’s Animal Farm and Michael Dobbs’ House of Cards. Though these novels belong to different genres, they portrayed leaders whose hunger for domination makes them set tactics and strategies to reinforce their domination at any cost; which results in leadership quarrels and crisis at the top of government. This work analyzes characters’ quest for domination and methods to preserve their places; it also examines leaders’ language use and rhetoric as well as their psychological traits.
