The Portrayal of Chinese Diaspora in Selected Novels by Amy Tan

This book explores the mother-daughter relationships and examines the cultural differences of Chinese immigrants in the United States. An in-depth analysis of three novels by Amy Tan forms the basis of this book. The aspects of diaspora that is looked at are the problems faced by the female Chinese diaspora in trying to adopt and adjust to their new environment and accepting the new culture. It also looks at the relationships among the Chinese diaspora to determine the cultural barrier that is created due to the different environment and culture in China and the United States. This book enables readers to understand the difficulties faced by the Chinese diaspora in their everyday struggle of trying to adapt in a new culture.
