Security Agency and The Control And Manangement Of Arms In Nigeria

The continuous and uncontrolled influx of arms and ammunitions to Africa, particularly to the Northern states in Nigeria (Adamawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kwara, Bauchi and Jos) has necessitated the need to access the measures used by security agencies to check, monitor, control and management techniques. The main objective of the book is to examine the modalities of security agency co-operation in the control and management of arms proliferation in Kwara state. This book recommends that joint problem solving approach, establishment of early warning system within the agencies, constant cordon and search, empower institutions to prosecute culprits, procurement of modern equipments by the government, maintaining a high level of public confidence and effective information gathering as the best options in other to solve the problem of illegal influx (arms proliferation) in the state.
