Planning and Management of Road Weather Information Systems

Environmental sensor stations have been a valuable source of information for the safe and efficient operations of transportation network in cold regions. More and more sensor stations have been built by transportation agencies throughout the highway network to serve their unique needs and applications. These stations are integrated into a network system of sensors, commonly dubbed as the road weather information system (RWIS).
