The major problem of hydrocarbons pollution needs the attention as it is one of the contributing factor to pollution. Therefore, the study had been conducted in order to find a natural and non toxic solution for the issue. The microbes have the potential to be the solution for everything. The study include the isolation of the bacterial strain from the soil sample taken nearby the Nerikhad river bank, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. Furthermore, the sample has been tested to tolerate the hypersaline conditions and their potential to degrade the petrol and diesel in the same conditions. So, the 'HC19' strain of Bacillus albus is a halophilic strain which uses the hydrocarbons as sole source of carbon and able to biodegrade it.
