British Civilization: An Overview

This book has been designed for those students reading for a BA degree in English Studies, anywhere in the world where the British Civilization module is included in the English BA academic programme. British Civilization: An Overview is the fruit of a joint collaboration between the two authors dating back to 2008. It is a combination of their lectures and seminar materials at their respective universities, the University of Debrecen (Hungary) and the University of Oran (Algeria). The book is divided into twelve chapters, covering a wide range of topics that include the early, pre-modern and modern historical development of Britain, political institutions and government policies (including Britain’s position in world affairs), as well as religious and cultural aspects of life in Britain.
