The ability to maintain control over your reproductive choices is fundamental in determining the course and quality of your life. “Inequality in the United States: Sexual Healthcare” explores how a lack of control over reproductive autonomy occurs. Under our government's current reproductive healthcare policies, low-income women have significantly less access to sexual education, contraception and abortion. This investigation reveals that low-income and adolescent women are the most likely to experience an unwanted pregnancy, and that a large percentage of those women choose to give birth to and care for the child. These young women face hurdles that other women their age without infants do not have to overcome. Their standard of living and prospects for a successful future are greatly diminished. This investigation assesses whether government actions are a cause of inequality. It is my hope that after reading this investigation you have a deeper understanding of reproductive rights as well as the hurdles we have yet to overcome.
