The use of renewable energy is growing significantly in the world due to increasing demand for electrical energy and the rising price of the traditional energy resources. Solar energy is one of the most promising renewable energies worldwide. The most popular application of solar energy (photovoltaic) is water pumping system for irrigation and drinking water.A mathematical model of Photovoltaic Module (PVM) is established using the information given in module data-sheet. Due to the nonlinear mathematical model of PVM, the Newton-Raphson iterative method is used to obtain the PVM model parameters. The model is validated with Matlab/Simulink at different atmospheric conditions of temperature and radiation. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of Photovoltaic (PV) system is also studied using the Boost converter interfacing circuit between the PV generator and the static load. The converter is designed to operate in the Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) and controlled using the Incremental Conductance (INC) algorithm for MPPT. The system is tested with various atmospheric conditions.
