Prospects of Biogas in Rural Nepal on Critical Analysis

More than 85 percent of total energy in Nepal comes from traditional biomass energy which leads to environmental degradation, ecological imbalance and adverse human health impacts. This calls for biogas with the associated carbon revenue and other quantifiable tangible benefits, as the best applicable alternative energy. The main objective of the study was to study the prospects of biogas installation in terms of the socio-economic and environmental benefits to the rural community of Nepal. The book is based on comparative study among Biogas and Non-Biogas Households in Nepal. And critically analyses primary data for calculation of GHG emission (IPCC guidelines), payback period and carbon abatement revenue. This book analyses the challenges and opportunities of biogas plant as an alternative energy source and has attempted to address the invaluable information for the success of biogas promotion as an eco-friendly approach.
