Effectiveness of RDT and Microscopy in Detection of Malaria Parasite

Malaria may result in significant morbidity and mortality. Thus, rapid, sensitive and accurate detection of malaria parasites have an important role in promoting rapid diagnosis and treatment. Moreover, RDTs offer the potential to provide accurate diagnosis to all at- risk populations for the first time, reaching those unable to access good quality microscopy services. Despite the limitation and problems related to accuracy of malaria RDTs, they are considered the best option in many laboratories with limited services.
