Hepatotoxicity of the drugs like (isoniazid (INH) and rifampicin) has a potential negative impact. Negative impact of antitubercular therapy are sometimes caused by the use of multiple drugs, though INH and rifampicin are themselves seriously hepatotoxic, but their toxicity is increased when they are used in combination. Nigella sativa and honey are well known for the property of hepatoprotective. Nigella sativa seed has powerful healing qualities for many ailments and acts as hepatoprotective, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antinecrotic, antidiabetic and anticancer. From ancient times honey is also used traditionally for the treatment of various diseases and from the last few years honey is used for liver injury, gastroprotective effect and accelerated wound healing. Honey accelerates wound healing and is used in burn treatment, by helping the rapid healing of wounds with less scarring. It also acts as anti-inflammatory, antinecrotic, antioxidative and anticancer. Thus due to multifarious properties shown by both Nigella sativa and honey, can be used as hepatoprotective against antitubercular drugs in rats.
