Searching Better Lifestyle in Migration

Given that globalization today by no means signifies a liner process of homogenization of societies in the world, what kind of language is it necessary to examine this new phenomena? In this dynamic interaction between the local and global, what type of new mobility does it turn up in one''s life in this era? To answer these questions, this book explores the rise of new Japanese migrants who immigrated to Australia being in search of better ‘lifestlye'' that was supposed to be unattainable without leaving Japan. Through investigating the ways in which these Japanese lifestyle migrants interpret and internalize a different socio-cultural context of Australian society, in order to accommodate their longed lifestyle, as well as investigating the growth of their alternative transnational identity by relying upon a notion of cultural hybridity, this book develops a new perspective in contemporary migration studies.
