Map Comparison Based on Template Image Matching Techniques

Although many researches have been carried out to evaluate and study the accuracy of old maps, there is no clear methodology adopted and can be used to compare these maps with modern data. To enable such comparison, differences between sources that are the results of real changes and differences due to techniques used to produce maps should be considered. This must result in a method that objectively describes how to interpret and compare features on old maps with the same elements on modern maps.
