The aim of this book is to shed light on the place of land management and development of agricultural industry from 2nd century B.C. to 11 the century A.D. of Coastal Andhra Pradesh which is an observing interest in micro study of history. The Coastal Andhra Pradesh played an important role in the ancient and early medieval period of Economic History of South India. The study is based on epigraphs, both lithic and copper plates, which provide a mine of information. The Coastal Andhra Pradesh was under the rule of Sathavahana, Ikshavaku, Salankayana, Vishnukundin, the early Pallava and Eastern Chalukya dynasties for more than one thousand and three hundred years. The epigraphs of the said dynasties refer to land grants and its management. The land management, its historical origin and growth, are blended with economic and social prosperity of the region.
