Simulation and Analysis of Deformable Solids – Vol. 1

This book deals about modeling and simulating deformable solids. Numerical simulations (static, linear and non-linear analysis) of timber and reinforced concrete structures were performed with the aid of softwares based on the Finite Element Method (FEM), and non-deterministic optimization methods were implemented with a focus on minimizing the weight of the structures. Topics such as joints in timber structures, design of timber structures, design of reinforced concrete columns and the analysis of deep foundation systems were extensively presented, detailed and discussed.
