The Fellowship of Eponyms and Eponymisms

This book is the second part of a monographic study on eponymization, eponyms and eponymisms, which continues the description published in the volume Eponymization as a Key to Immortality (published by LAP Lambert in 2021). Eponyms have been frequently viewed as a comprehensive denominative category that also comprises metaphors, metonyms, toponyms and antonomasia. Nevertheless, they represent a well-delineated set of words that is characterized by a remarkable formal flexibility and an availability to coin new words. Their lexical versatility and morphological accessibility ensure their own individuality among the other onyms. This is a full size portrait of eponymisms which groups them in a wealth of taxonomies based on different semantic and lexical criteria. It also draws a parallel between eponymisms and their non-eponymal synonyms in a framework whose simple and coherent content intertwines linguistic knowledge with terminological expertise in an apology for the creation and use of eponymisms.
